Rajdeep Deka

I am a PhD student at the School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University. I joined Asha about 1 and half years ago and since then I have participated in events to raise funds for Asha Purdue. In my opinion, education is one of the key components that can bring growth and progress into society. The more people in a society are educated, the more they can provide a beneficial contribution to their environment. But still 57 million children do not have any idea about what it’s like to be in a classroom. This year I am participating in the 5K run organized by Asha Purdue in an effort to raise funds to support the education of the underprivileged children. Every penny counts and no matter how big or small a donation is, everything will be spent towards a child’s educations. $5 can support the daily needs of an orphan for a week, $10 can buy books for a kid for a year and $20 can fund a kid’s education for a month!

About Asha Purdue Chapter:

Asha for Education-Purdue Chapter is a non-profit completely-volunteer based organization on Purdue University’s campus. We are one of the 50 chapters of Asha for Education present world-wide. Aligned with our parent organization’s mission, Asha for Education-Purdue Chapter champions education among underprivileged children by supporting them financially. Our projects are spread across various regions in India.

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” And providing basic education to a child might be the happiest moment in anyone’s life.

Thanks!

Rajdeep
