Why am I running for 5K?
Why am I running for 5K?
“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can”
– John Wesley
Coming from a background where we all lead a privileged life, I strongly believe that it is our responsibility to help and support those who are NOT-SO privileged in every possible way. We all are blessed with sufficient resources that even if donate a very small portion of it, we would still lead a good life, but it would make a world of difference in the lives of the children who need our support and love. If the money we spent can help a child to progress towards a better future, that money is well-spent.
Being a part of the ASHA-Purdue chapter, it gives me and thus to all of you a unique opportunity to contribute towards the betterment of the society. All the funds raised through this 5K run would support multiple educational and social-economic projects supported by ASHA Purdue chapter. To mention few, Nari Gunjan works with the girls of Musahar community-based in Bihar, India which is considered one of the poorest and socially disadvantaged communities of the region. Manasa is a school for differently-abled children located in Hyderabad, India, and SAIS Basundhara is a home and school for the orphaned, abandoned children, located in Odisha, India.
Please come forward and help me in raising at least $1200 through this 5k run to support the noble cause.
I was born and brought up in Chandigarh, India. I did my undergraduate in Aerospace Engineering from SRM University, Chennai, India. Currently, I am pursuing doctoral studies in School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University with a research focus in the field of combustion, energy, and utilization. In particular, I am investigating the fire-safety properties of alternative aviation fuels by employing experimental and computational methods.
Over the time, I have realized that all of us are not equally fortunate and we should make an effort in making the life of people better. At different occasions, I have financially supported and worked at ground level to ease the burden of difficulties in people’s lives. I recently joined Purdue ASHA team and really proud to be a part of an organization which selflessly and consistently makes effort to support the education of the not-so-privileged children of our society and help them to move towards a better life and discover themselves.
